Democrats blast Trump for his illegal plot to steal from taxpayers

President Donald Trump is criticized for his attempted corruption for the Department of Justice to give him $230 million in taxpayer money because he is angry about his various investigations and criminal charges.
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland called Trump called it a “classic impeachment offense” during an interview with Crooked Media on Wednesday. Raskin said he was launching an investigation into the corrupt and illegal payments and demanding all correspondence between the White House and the DOJ.

In a letter Sent to Trump on Thursday, Raskin and fellow Democrat Robert Garcia of California said it was “patently illegal and unconstitutional” for Trump to receive any payment from the federal government outside of his $400,000 salary.
“The Founders feared that presidents like you would one day be tempted to use your powers to steal American taxpayer dollars. That’s why they wrote a very simple rule into the Constitution called the National Emoluments Clause,” the letter said.
Indeed, this clause of the Constitution explicitly stated“The President shall, at appointed times, receive compensation for his services which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected, nor shall he receive during such period any other emolument from the United States, or any of them.”
Raskin and Garcia denounced Trump’s attempted theft of taxpayer dollars, “especially at a time when most Americans are struggling to pay their rent, eat and afford health care.”
They called the move “an outrageous and shocking attempt to undermine the American people.”
Instead, you waited until you were president and installed your hand-picked loyalists at the DOJ, knowing that you could have them co-sign your demand memos in secret and behind closed doors, and that you could then present the memos to the U.S. Treasury for cold hard cash, courtesy of the American taxpayer,” Raskin and Garcia wrote in the letter.
“It’s not justice, it’s theft.”

As a minority, Democrats do not have subpoena power. But if they regain control of the House in 2026, they will hold that power again. It’s something Trump fears so much that he’s forcing Republican-controlled states to gerrymander their cards mid-cycle at rig midterm exams to favor the Republicans.
But poll shows that Trump is so unpopular that his party’s corrupt gerrymandering plans may not be enough. And if Democrats win the House next November, Raskin will use his subpoena power in the case.
“We want the whole paper trail,” Raskin told the New Republic. “We are looking for any correspondence, memoranda or recordings of conversations between the White House and the Department of Justice. If we had the power to subpoena, we would take care of it.”
Even Republicans know that Trump’s payment system looks bad.
Those who generally support Trump have couldn’t defend that, claims that they do not know all the details and cannot comment.

After trying to avoid criticizing Trump Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson was pressed on whether he’s OK with Trump taking $230 million of taxpayer money.
“I’m not trying to dodge a question. I haven’t had time to get the details. It’s still on my to-do list,” he said. replied pathetically.
Given that Johnson is not negotiating with Democrats on government funding and he keep the room back To avoid swearing in Democrat Adelita Grijalva, you’d think he’d have plenty of time to “know the details” of the payment plan.
Even if he didn’t, what information does he need? Either you think Trump has the right to pocket hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, or you don’t.
So, what is it, Mike?
