An 82 -year -old woman who was one of the 12 victims of an attack on a rally to support Israeli hostages died of her injuries in Colorado, according to officials.

Karen Diamond was seriously injured after the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, shouting “Free Palestine” launched Molotov cocktails in the group in what federal officials called a “terrorist attack”.

The suspect told the police after being arrested that he wanted to “kill all Zionist people”, according to court documents.

Due to the death of one of the victims, prosecutors now add new accusations of first degree murder in addition to several other people confronted with the suspect, who remains imprisoned.

Diamond was among the 20 people gathered on June 1 to participate in a race for their lives gathering at the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, to raise awareness of the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza.

She died due to “the serious injuries she suffered during the attack,” said the district prosecutor’s office.

“This horrible attack has now won the life of an innocent person who was loved by family and friends,” said district prosecutor Michael Dougherty. “Our hearts are with the Diamond family during this incredibly difficult period.”

The officials say that the suspect planned the attack for a year, watching videos on how to make Molotov cocktails before driving from his home to Colorado Springs to boulder to lead the attack.

The suspect would have pretended to be a gardener with a construction vest to get closer to the group before the attack, according to the prosecutors.

Near the crime scene, officials say they have found 16 unlit Molotov cocktails in a plastic container at hand, as well as a weed sprayer filled with petrol.

Last week, Mr. Soliman was charged with 12 federal counts of hatred crimes. He also faces at least 100 criminal accusations of the state, including an attempted murder.

Mr. Soliman’s lawyer David Kraut pleaded not guilty on his behalf last week for the accusations of hatred crime.

Federal authorities claim that Mr. Soliman, an Egyptian national, illegally lives in the United States with his family.

A few days after the attack, his wife and five children were placed in police custody by officials of immigration and customs application (ICE).

Data from the Anti-Diffation League suggest anti-Semitic incidents increased at a record level in 2023 and again in 2024.
