TikTok has just launched a whole host of new tools and features, including new monthly rewards and lots of AI.

Long videos are great for YouTube, but they may not be ideal for short videos. Enter: Smart Split, an AI-powered editing tool that takes your longer videos (think podcast videos and hour-long video essays) and cuts them into shorter videos.

“If you’ve ever spent hours cutting podcasts into clips…this one’s for you,” Kim Farrell, global head of creators at TikTok, said at TikTok’s 2025 US Creator Summit.

The tool, available globally on TikTok Studio Web, automatically cuts, crops, subtitles and transcribes users’ longer videos into multiple short videos. To use the tool, creators still need to do a little work. You will need to upload videos longer than a minute and select the parts you want to cut. Then decide the length of videos or let Smart Split choose the duration automatically. You can also choose caption formatting and crop content if necessary.

The platform also launched AI Outline, an AI-powered tool that gives creators video titles, hashtags, hooks, and previews. Simply enter a prompt or select a topic in Creator Search Insights to get a preview that divides a video into six parts. After getting the answer from the AI, you can ask it to modify the answer, i.e. ask it to give you another hook option or adapt the script to your audience. AI Outline is available to creators 18 or older in the United States, Canada, and select markets.

It’s no surprise that TikTok continues to rely on AI – it seems like every social media platform does. Earlier this month, Twitch announced a new AI-powered tool that automatically creates clips from live streams, much like Twitch’s version of Smart Split. Meta has its own suite of AI-powered tools for creators, such as the AI tools on Edit, AI Studio, and the “infinite slope machine” that is Vibes from Meta AI.
