The production and manufacturing of electric vehicles and their batteries consume a lot of energy, leading many people to be skeptical of the environmental benefits of going electric. But a new study finds that after two years of use, electric vehicles have a more positive net result than gasoline vehicles. The study also reveals that gasoline vehicles cause two to three times more damage to the climate and air quality in the long term than electric vehicles. The book provides insight into a transportation sector that accounts for a large portion of U.S. emissions. Researchers from Northern Arizona University and Duke University published their results Wednesday in the journal PLOS Climate.
