Granted, this is probably only the case for tall people like me (6′ 4″, 255 pounds and with very broad shoulders) and might not even apply to people of average height. In fact, at 6′ 4″, I’m an inch too tall for the XP4, at least according to the brand, which says the bike is suitable for riders 4′ 10″ to 6′ 3″. But that extra inch seems negligible, because, during my first 150 miles on the bike, my legs don’t yet feel constrained by the height of my saddle.

Speaking of that saddle, the seat post of the bike has an integrated suspension coil, offering 40mm of travel. While in theory some rear suspension would be welcome, it felt like every time the coil compressed it was actually my seat tube sliding into the frame. It was a strange feeling and I have to admit after about 200 miles of cycling I haven’t really gotten used to it.

Another thing I don’t like about the XP4 is its old-fashioned one-sided kickstand. A bike of this weight should feature a scooter-style stand that retracts under the bottom stand, providing even support to both sides of the machine. However, the one-sided kickstand often finds myself (and myself!) fighting against gravity when trying to lock the bike onto something resembling an incline.

All told, these few flaws are barely enough to make me dislike the XP4 750, as its smooth ride, very long range, sleek design, and litany of aftermarket accessories make it a bike I would commute with for a long, long time.
