Epic Games recently added support for Arm64 to its Epic Online Services (EOS) developer kit, which means that more games can now be played on computers with Arm-based chips.
For example, Fortnite can finally be played on computers with Snapdragon X Plus or X Elite chips without emulation, provided you’re running at least version 38.00 of the game.
According to Windows Latest, the game experience on Arm-based PCs is better than expected, but it can lag a bit from time to time. Hopefully Epic Games will be able to optimize further in future updates of Fortnite.
PC gaming has long been pretty rough on Arm-based machines and blame has been thrown in every which direction for the state of things, with Arm saying it’s the responsibility of developers. This milestone could end up being a crucial step towards a better PC gaming experience on Arm as a whole, though it is still just one step.
