How to Talk to ChatGPT for Free Inside WhatsApp (While You Still Can)
Be sure to include the United States country code at the beginning of the number to ensure it is added correctly. You’ll also be asked to give the new contact a name: “ChatGPT” is the obvious choice here, but you can choose another if you prefer. You will then have a new option in your contacts list, which you can tap to start a chat.
You can connect your ChatGPT account by tapping the ChatGPT label at the top of the conversation, then following the instructions Link your ChatGPT account URL listed on screen. This isn’t actually necessary to interact with the bot, but it does mean that your WhatsApp conversations with ChatGPT will be synced to your account. If you’re a paying user, this also means you’ll benefit from higher usage limits and access to smarter models. And if you link your account before free chatbot access ends in January, your chat history within WhatsApp will be preserved in your ChatGPT account.
From this point on, you can interact with ChatGPT as you would with any of your other WhatsApp contacts. Tap the contact’s name at the top of your chat to manage their settings. You can change the wallpaper, turn off notifications, choose whether or not images are saved on your phone, and lock the chat to hide it, for example.
Return to the official ChatGPT apps for web or mobile, and if you have connected your account, you will also see your WhatsApp chats saved there. You can continue the conversation from the official apps, but anything you say from that point on will not be synced with chats in WhatsApp.

Much of the basic functionality you get elsewhere with ChatGPT is also available in WhatsApp. You can ask ChatGPT questions, ask it to summarize something you give it, have it translate or edit text, use it to brainstorm ideas, or even get help with coding if you want to do that in a WhatsApp chat.
