Why Simone Biles Opened Up About Boob Job, Eye-Bag Op
Over the years, Simone Biles, 28, has been quite outspoken about procedures to alter her appearance, with the Olympian revealing last year that she had received baby Botox for her 27th birthday – but was unhappy with the results.
Then, last month, Simone fueled speculation that she had undergone breast augmentation after sharing a video of herself doing gymnastics with the caption: “First jump – in a year – into the new house – with the new guy 🍒.”
And the star confirmed the procedure in late October after sharing a TikTok video in which she teased: “I’ve had three cosmetic surgeries and two of them you’ll never be able to tell.” Simone then asked her followers to guess the procedures in the comments.
She then replied to one of the comments to reveal all three things, writing: “🍒, lower breath because I had the worst bags under my eyes and earlobe – my earring came off when I was younger,” with the cherry emoji apparently referring to a boob job.
Now, Simone has opened up about her decision to tell her followers about the cosmetic work she’s had done, and honestly? She makes a good point.
Speaking to People, Simone explained that she hoped her transparency would help younger people realize that what they see on social media “isn’t real” and that not everyone looks “that good” naturally – in fact, everyone has their own insecurities. Simone also wants to eliminate the feeling of “shame” surrounding cosmetic treatments if it helps people feel more confident in themselves.
“I’ve always tried to be open, honest and accessible. Seeing myself win medals at the Olympics is nothing comparable,” Simone began. “But what’s relevant is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we’re going through, and how we share openly and honestly.”
“It shows young girls that they have the right to make their own choices, whatever they may be, and that’s not something to be ashamed of,” she continued. “I feel like today with social media you see everyone and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, how is she so beautiful?’ Social media doesn’t exist, so I try to be as transparent as possible.
Explaining her thought process behind her procedures, Simone added: “I have had lower bleph because me and my family have them, I call it ‘Biles eye bags.’ We always had them, hereditary, and so it was just a big flaw. Every time I went to a shoot, they’d say, “Oh, can we put some tape on him?” And I was like, ‘Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, this isn’t going to go away.’ These are simply hereditary. So that’s something I wanted to fix.
Of her breast augmentation, Simone said: “Not that I didn’t like the way I looked or the way I felt, it’s just something that I obviously notice a little more because I live in this body, I’m so used to it.”
