U.S. Thanks Middle East Countries for Backing Security Council Resolution on Gaza

The U.S. mission to the United Nations thanked a number of Middle Eastern countries and Indonesia, which has a large Muslim population, for backing a Security Council resolution supporting President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan.
In a joint statement Thursday, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates endorsed the draft Security Council resolution under consideration, which would bring the plan to fruition.
“The historic Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict announced on September 29 is endorsed by the resolution and was celebrated and approved in Sharm Al Sheikh,” the statement noted.
Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed their endorsement of Trump’s peace plan in Egypt on October 13 after Hamas accepted it days earlier.
The statement noted that the process “provides a path toward self-determination and Palestinian statehood.”
“We emphasize that this is a sincere effort and that the Plan provides a viable path to peace and stability, not only between Israelis and Palestinians, but for the entire region,” the countries continued. “We look forward to the rapid adoption of this resolution.”
The X account of the US mission to the UN thanked the countries who signed the resolution:
The United States thanks Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey for supporting our Security Council resolution on Gaza that advances President Trump’s historic 20-point comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict.
Benefiting from strong regional support secured in Sharm el-Sheikh on September 29, this plan provides a credible path to lasting peace and stability for Israelis, Palestinians and the region. We call for rapid adoption.
After the signing in Sharm el-Sheikh last month, Trump delivered a speech accompanied by leaders from around the world.
“This is the day that people across the region and around the world have worked, fought, hoped and prayed for,” Trump said.
“With the historic agreement we have just signed, these prayers of millions of people have finally been answered. As you know, the hostages have been returned and further work continues to – unfortunately – save the bodies,” he added.
He also shared his vision for the region’s future, saying the Middle East can be a cultural and commercial crossroads.
“So together, let us continue in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill that ultimately led us to this incredible historic breakthrough,” he said.
“If we do this, together we will achieve the Middle East’s incredible destiny: a secure, prosperous and magnificent crossroads of culture and commerce, faith in humanity and geographic center,” he continued. “It will be the geographic center of the world.”
