Trump indicates plans to meet with Mamdani at White House
Trump has hinted at plans to meet with New York Mayor Mamdani at the White House, despite previous critical comments and election-related remarks.
US President Donald Trump indicated he plans to meet with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani at the White House, according to a comment to reporters Sunday evening.
Trump told reporters that “the mayor of New York would like to meet with us and we will find a solution” as he prepared to board a flight in Florida.
“He would like to come to Washington and meet,” Trump said.
“We want everything to go well for New York,” Trump concluded.
Trump commented on Mamdani, saying he “would like to see the new mayor succeed,” but that if Mamdani didn’t respect Washington, he “has no chance of succeeding,” in an interview with Fox News on November 5.
Trump’s Election Day Comments Against Mamdani
Trump said on November 4 that he would limit federal funds to New York City if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani won the city’s mayoral election, and urged his supporters to vote for former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Trump said on Truth Social that if Mamdani won the election, it would be “very unlikely that I would contribute any federal funds, other than the minimum required.”
Trump also said that all the Jews in New York who voted for Mamdani were stupid, because he wouldn’t like Jews.
“Any Jewish person who votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self-proclaimed Jew-hater, is a stupid person!!!” Trump said in a Truth Social article.
