Samsung’s biggest OLED ultrawide gaming monitor is more than 50% off today

Forgive my impenetrable technology journalist jargon, but: Hoo, doggie. We’re finally starting to see better OLED monitor deals after a frankly disappointing year. for example, Samsung’s gigantimax OLED, the 49-inch Odyssey G950, currently costs just $849.99 at Best Buy. That’s more than half its usual price of $1,800.
The G950 measures 49 inches in OLED quality, with a resolution of 5,120 × 1,440 (that’s two 1,440p monitors side by side) and an impressive 240 Hz refresh rate. If you own a desktop computer capable of outputting more than seven million pixels, two hundred and forty times per second, then you have my respect and my envy. This monitor could bring my desk to its knees without modification Minecraft.
But that’s not all. In addition to all these PC gaming qualities, this monitor doesn’t need a PC at all to stream videos. Samsung’s smart TV system was built in, making it a capable (if extremely important) connection to all your streaming apps anywhere you have Wi-Fi. The only thing it lacks is USB power or video, despite having USB-C ports, so it’s not a great companion for a gaming laptop.
This is the most dramatic discount I’ve seen on any monitor before Black Friday, and there were already some pretty decent OLED deals in the bunch. If you want to install this monster without losing too much desk space, you might also want this sturdy VESA monitor arm.
