Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt Demands D.C. Appeals Judge Suspend Rogue Jurist James Boasberg ASAP – RedState
In virtually every conversation about activist judges, the name of Washington District Chief Judge James Boasberg comes up quickly. He approved spying on Republican congressmen as part of former special counsel Jack Smith’s Arctic Frost investigation, and he barred telecommunications companies like Verizon from disclosing that they had received subpoenas. In July of this year, the DOJ filed a misconduct complaint against him for making public comments suggesting that the Trump administration would likely defy federal court rulings.
Oh, but there are many more. He demanded that a flight deporting suspected gangbangers from the Tren de Aragua to El Salvador returned in mid-flight in March, then found probable cause to pursue criminal contempt against the Trump team when they indicated they were unable to do so because they claimed the plane was flying over international waters at the time.

Arctic Frost unravels: Jack Smith’s ‘unprecedented’ phone seizure sparks White House fury
In March, Republican Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) filed an impeachment resolution against the rogue judge, and he reiterated his resolution earlier in November. Today, Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt is demanding that Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Sri Srinivasan suspend Boasberg while Congress considers impeachment proceedings. He posted a series of scathing messages on social media on Monday, demanding urgent action:
No more delays. Judge Boasberg must be suspended immediately. The indictment is pending. He should not have the opportunity to hear another case – this afternoon I led the effort to secure this stay. My letter to Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan of the DC Circuit. 🧵

The letter said:
We are writing to you regarding Chief Judge James “Jeb” Boasberg of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Chief Justice Boasberg should be administratively suspended pending formal impeachment by the House of Representatives and, if impeached, an impeachment trial by the Senate.
On November 4, 2025, articles of impeachment were filed against Judge Boasberg for his role in Operation Arctic Frost, the Biden administration’s efforts to target and spy on sitting Republican senators and conservative organizations, including the Republican Attorneys General Association during Senator Schmitt’s tenure as president during his tenure as attorney general of Missouri.
Schmitt has had a lot to say about Boasberg in the past; here is the senator at the end of October:
I have just requested the dismissal of Judge Boasberg. Boasberg is the epitome of rogue judges: • He imposes himself in the Trump cases. • He foments a campaign of judicial “resistance”. • He issues illegal silence orders against Republican senators. This rogue judge needs to go. Let’s recap. 🧵
