Mesopotamia quiz: Test your knowledge about the ancient civilizations of the Fertile Crescent

The historical zone called Mesopotamiameaning “land between two rivers” in ancient Greek, refers largely to the territory between the tiger and euphrates rivers. Mesopotamia included what Iraq are today, eastern Syria, south-eastern Turkey and the parts of Iran and Kuwait. From around 10,000 BC, Mesopotamia has become a home for cultural developments, especially agriculture,, mathematics and the wheel. It is therefore not surprising that some of the first empires in the world also occur here.

THE Sumerian civilization started around 5,500 BC in the Iraq-South Center, with important cities-states like Ur. The Akkadian Empire overshadowed around 2300 BC, considerably expanding the old borders – and writing many Salaces puzzles. And then around 800 BC, the intermediate city of Assur capitalized on free trade and has become an important power at the heart of the Assyrian Empire. All these cultures have left their mark on the region.
