Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz placed on paid leave, under MLB investigation

Cleveland Guardians leaving the launcher Luis Ortiz was placed on leave, the team announced on Thursday morning. He had to start the Guardians match Thursday evening against the Cubs, but it will be more Joey Cantillo who will take the ball for Cleveland.

The Guardians published the following statement on the issue:

The Guardians were informed by Major League Baseball that Luis Ortiz was put on leave by agreement with the Association of Players due to an ongoing investigation in the League.

Guardians are not allowed to comment more for the moment and will respect the league confidential investigation process.

Ortiz, 26, is 4-9 with an MPM of 4.36 (95 ERA +), 1.38 whip and 96 stick withdrawals against 42 steps in 88 ⅔ sleeves this season.

The Guardians enter Thursday 40-44, 14 games in the Central Al, although they are only four games back from the third point of Joker.
