1 NFL reporter hints at less-than-ideal situation under Steelers HC Mike Tomlin
Every time a player signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially veterans, we hear the same thing. They all look forward to the opportunity to play for head coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin has been called a players’ coach over and over again, which has become his calling card. This is despite the fact that Tomlin hasn’t put together a team able to win a playoff game since 2016.
What if maybe, just maybe, things aren’t as great under Tomlin as we hear? According to NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, things might not be as great as players think when they come to Pittsburgh but after they leave, they don’t feel like they can talk about it. Kinkhabwala was on 93.7 TheFan and talked about Tomlin and the team’s issues.
“I’ll just say this without violating anybody’s trust. There are many, many former players that I have spoken to that have bitten their tongues about their experience with Mike (Tomlin),” Kinhabwala said.
It’s been a long-standing joke that Steelers players don’t ever play as hard for Tomlin as you’d expect with him being such a player’s coach. This team is notorious for coming out flat and being forced to play catch-up when they fall behind.
