Dems Telling Military to Refuse Orders ‘Helps Our Enemies’

In an appearance Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Democratic lawmakers’ video message to the military about the illegal orders “helps our enemies.”

Host Kristen Welker said, “Let me ask you about another topic this week that’s gotten a lot of attention. Six Democrats in Congress released a video with a message to military and intelligence officials.”

She asked, “President Trump has accused these lawmakers of, quote, seditious behavior punishable by death. Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said every order President Trump gives is legal. Are you sure every order President Trump gives is legal?”

Bessent said: “Kristen, what I’m sure of is that this is a display of gross negligence here, when there are 2.1 million military personnel and you’re probably going to ask, you’re probably going to say that these derailed representatives received death threats. What about the 2.1 million military personnel? They put their lives on the line. There is a commander in chief, and when you go outside of a chain of command and try to create through noise and chaos, it only helps our enemies.”

Welker said: “However, are you sure, Mr. Secretary, that every order given by President Trump is, in fact, legal?

Bessent said: “I’m convinced of that. And I’m also convinced that it was a total mistake. They should take it down.”
