Your AI Strategy Needs to Expand Beyond the U.S. and China

Ask a room full of leaders where the next big wave of artificial intelligence (AI) will come from, and most will say either the United States or China. It is true that these two countries have strong advantages in AI. In the United States, AI companies benefit from venture capital and light regulation. In China, they benefit from government investments and AI-supported government surveillance, which generate both large amounts of data and demand for AI solutions. Both countries have large technology companies with lots of data. It is reasonable to assume that both countries – and the companies there – will continue to play a leadership role in important aspects of AI. But they don’t have a monopoly on the future of AI.
