Wait, What? Minneapolis Police Chief Urges Residents to Call 911 on ICE Agents – RedState
Apparently, many people in Minnesota are truly crazy, considering they voted for Tim Walz for governor and moved as far left as any state in the union. The latest to make the ridiculous remarks is Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, who on Tuesday advised citizens to call 911 if they see ICE agents “kidnapping” people.
ICE raids reportedly intensified in the city Wednesday after the federal government uncovered massive welfare fraud, committed largely by the city’s large Somali community.
City leaders are panicking over the presence of ICE and would apparently prefer to let illegal aliens go about their business. What’s actually scarier than potentially dangerous illegal aliens, according to the chief, is the prospect of random masked people kidnapping people for no apparent reason (of which I’ve seen exactly zero reports):
“We’ve had reports in this town… where people are calling saying there are people in masks, that they’re not sure they’re law enforcement, that they may be kidnapping people. We’ve had that information,” O’Hara said in a disconcerting news conference.
He made the bizarre plea Tuesday, when Mayor Jacob Frey accused immigration authorities of “targeting Somalis” based on their appearance alone and said it was “inevitable” that ICE would arrest U.S. citizens as part of the operation.
Note to Mayor Frey: Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin explicitly addressed this issue on Wednesday. “What makes someone a target of ICE is not their race or ethnicity,” she said, “but the fact that they are in the country illegally.”

Things are really heating up for Tim Walz as new fraud scandal investigations drop
The chief believes police should “intervene” in operations if they don’t like what they see. I don’t think this would suit them:
“The community needs to know that if you see something like this, it’s legitimate, and you don’t know if someone is law enforcement, you need to call 911 and you need to provide as much information as possible,” he said, asserting that cops “absolutely have a duty to intervene” in such cases.
Border czar Tom Homan had harsh words for O’Hara, saying he should “put his badge in the desk drawer”:

Remember, this is the same city where authorities saw looters and arsonists burn places nearly to the ground during the George Floyd riots in 2020. Although O’Hara was not part of the Minneapolis forces at that time, Tim Walz was governor and his wife enjoyed the smell of burning tires.
The leader came under fire in May from progressives for surprisingly criticizing the response to the riots and the “bizarre” political atmosphere in Minneapolis. Maybe he’s now just trying to win back favor with the far-left city council – or maybe he’s just had too much water from the area.
There’s clearly something in there.
