Cops yet to find evidence of drink tampering following Tara Reid allegations

A week after actress Tara Reid publicly said she was drugged at a Rosemont hotel bar, local authorities say they have yet to find any evidence of her drink being tampered with.
On Nov. 24, the “Big Lebowski” and “American Pie” actress took to TMZ and claimed she was hospitalized the day before after drinking a glass of wine that she claimed was spiked. Following Reid’s interview with the tabloid, the Rosemont Public Safety Department confirmed the incident, saying the department responded to a call of a sick person at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont on Nov. 23, just before 12:40 a.m.
The department added that it was in contact with Reid and had received a police report from the actress.

Rosemont police said in a written statement Wednesday that their investigation into the “Tara Reid incident” remains active and open, but at this time, “no criminal acts have been committed and no individuals currently under investigation.”
Reid’s management team could not immediately be reached for comment.
After Reid filed his report, detectives reviewed hotel surveillance and conducted several interviews, according to Rosemont Public Safety. The department said that although surveillance footage showed Reid at the hotel bar, it did not show anyone tampering with or adding anything to his drink.
In her account to TMZ last week, Reid said she ordered a drink at the hotel bar and then briefly went outside to smoke a cigarette. When she returned, Reid said her drink was covered with a napkin, which she added struck her as odd because it wasn’t covered when she left. Yet she continued to drink, she said.
“Without even finishing my drink,” she said, “I passed out. And before I knew it, I was in the hospital eight hours later.”
Rosemont Public Safety confirmed that a bartender covered Reid’s drink as she left the bar, the department said, noting that it was a common practice for bartenders.
When asked by TMZ hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere if she had been subjected to a breathalyzer test, Reid replied, “No, they just said you were drugged. That’s what they said, they said you were drugged last night at the bar.”
Rosemont Public Safety said it is currently waiting for records from the hospital, but cannot confirm what tests the hospital may have performed. Detectives will follow up if any leads are made from the test results or if additional information comes to light, the department said.
“While we have no evidence that any beverage was tampered with,” the department said, “this is a good reminder to never leave a beverage unattended.”
