First Lady Melania Trump announced exciting news for children displaced from Russia’s war with Ukraine, revealing that more than a handful of them have been reunited with their families.
In a press release issued Thursday by the Office of the First Lady, Trump celebrated the return of seven children — six boys and one girl — who they said “were reunited with their families in Ukraine” as part of an ongoing humanitarian effort.

“My commitment to ensuring the safe return of children to their families in this region is unwavering,” read a statement from Melania. “I applaud the leadership and persistent diplomacy of Russia and Ukraine in pursuing the reunification of children and families.”
“Their rapprochement has created an environment of tangible collaboration, an anchor for optimism,” the statement added. “This cooperation will continue to advance the process to the next phase.”

“In close partnership, my representative and I have provided humanitarian support from the United States to improve the outcomes of the reunification initiative,” the statement continued. “I hope that ultimately our collective efforts will lead to broader regional stability.”
The announcement comes months after the first lady wrote a personal letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to end the war on behalf of innocent children, as my RedState colleague Becca Lower reported.

Lower wrote about the letter obtained by Fox News, which Putin reportedly read during his Alaska summit in August with President Donald Trump.
