Florida football gets commitment from 2026 blue-chip in-state defensive back CJ Hester
The Florida football program added another leading hope to its recruitment class in 2026 Thursday when the four -star security CJ is committed to the Gators. His verbal commitment makes him the 16th member of the cycle to turn to Gainesville.
The defensive return of 6 feet 1 inch and 185 pounds of Cocoa (Florida) chose orange and blue compared to the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Syracuse Orange and Iowa Hawkeyes, among a total of 6 schools which had officially offered him a scholarship. Florida has been at the head of Hester’s Pack for some time and this status has been cemented by its official visit to campus on May 30.
The Sunshine State product had also made OVS with Auburn (May 16), Syracuse (June 6), UGA (June 13) and Iowa (June 20) before making its decision.
During Hester’s visit to Gainesville, he had the opportunity to rub the elbows with the defensive back coach Deron Wilson as well as the chief skipper, Billy Napier. The first managed to spend quality time with the high school student.
"He likes to play the game and all that," Wilson told Swamp247. "Get to know your family, make jokes. And then later, talk about ball and just my strengths and my weaknesses, then how he sees me develop here."
