At least 13 killed, 20 children missing in Texas floods

Thirteen people died in Kerr county in the American state of Texas, according to the authorities, after bad weather and floods hit parties of the state.

More and more people are not counted, especially in a summer camp where the Lieutenant-Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, confirmed that around 20 children were missing.

“In 45 minutes, the Guadalupe river increased by 26 feet and it was a destructive flood-taking goods and unfortunately lives,” he said at a press conference on Friday.

He read a mystic camp declaration, where around 700 children were present, saying that there had been a “catastrophic level” of flooding and informed parents that if they had not been contacted, their child is taken into account.

“It doesn’t mean [the missing children] were lost. They could be out of communication, “Lieutenant Governor, who is acting governor while governor Greg Abbott is on vacation, added.

Friday morning, sudden floods in the state caused disaster declarations for the Hill Country and Concho Valley regions.

In Kerr County, the Sheriff’s Office reported serious floods with several missing and confirmed persons.

The rescues and evacuations have been underway since early in the morning and there are warnings of more sudden potential floods to come in the state.

The state received several months of precipitation in a few hours, according to officials, leading to sudden dangerous floods.

Governor Greg Abbott said that Texas provided “all the resources necessary for Kerrville, Ingram, Hunt and the whole of Texas Hill Country dealing with these devastating floods”.

The region is northwest of the city of San Antonio.

The images show the deep flooding waters which have bridges and rapidly swirling water swirling on the roads.

“People, please don’t take risks. Stay vigilant, follow local emergency warnings and do not browse the flooded roads,” Texas Commissioner said at the Ministry of Agriculture, Sid Miller.

The Kerr County sheriff’s office told residents near streams, streams and the Guadalupe river to move to higher land.

The mayor of Kerrville, Joe Herring, said that there was no indication that the floods were going to be so devastating that the country had no early alert system, as the Kerrville Daily Times reported.

In addition, in New Jersey, the authorities say that at least three people died in the state following heavy rains and thunderstorms on Thursday evening.

Among the three killed were two men, aged 79 and 25, who died after a tree fell on their car in Plainfield during the serious storm on Thursday.

A 44 -year -old was also killed when a tree fell on her vehicle in North Plainfield.

“Our hearts are heavy today,” said Mayor Mapp de Plainfield. “This tragedy is a reminder that gives to reflect the power of nature and the fragility of life.”
