German police stop driver who let toddler steer on motorway

A woman in southwestern Germany let her one-year-old child drive her car on a highway while she used her cellphone, police said Wednesday morning.
Officers spotted the 29-year-old woman Tuesday evening with the small child sitting on her lap and both of the child’s hands on the steering wheel as she typed on her phone. Police stopped her at an exit near Ramstein, west of Kaiserslautern, and confronted her.
Police said the woman showed no understanding of the danger. The authorities have now opened administrative offense proceedings against him.
