Sick in Your Soul – RedState

Erika Kirk, the widow of murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk, harshly condemned those celebrating her husband’s murder as “sick” and dehumanized.
Kirk made the comments in a clip from a town hall hosted by CBS News Executive Editor Bari Weiss (no link).
During one particular segment of the discussion, which included questions from an invited audience, Weiss noted that the reaction to Charlie’s murder from a significant portion of the left-wing population was “alarming.”
“They basically said that because Charlie had said or believed things that they considered controversial or even hateful, that somehow he had it coming,” Weiss said. “What do you say to people who justify his death?”
After a brief pause, Ms. Kirk responded as if one of those left-wing ghouls was staring her in the face.
“You’re sick. He’s a human being,” she says, understandably emotional but in an incredibly stern tone. “Do you think he deserved that? Tell that to my 3 year old daughter.”
“You want to watch the high-resolution video of my husband’s murder, laugh and say he deserves it?” Kirk continued. “There is something very sick in your soul, and I pray that God saves you.”

Would this be an appropriate level of anger and disgust, Temu Skeleton Jennifer Welch? Because that seemed like an appropriate level for the sick bastards on social media and podcasts who smeared Erika for not crying enough in the way they deemed appropriate.
Ms. Kirk seems to have had enough of some of the craziness going on in the darkest shadows of social media, the one place where gutter dwellers can get away with saying the most vile things to people they would never contact in real life.
During an appearance earlier this week on Fox News, she was asked about the accusations and claims made by desperate podcasters like Candace Owens and others regarding her husband’s murder.
“Can I have one thing? Can my babies have one thing that we hold sacred, where my husband lies?” » Kirk asked. “Where I don’t have to worry about a secular revolutionary coming to destroy my husband’s grave, while my daughter sits there praying. One thing?”

I want to take a moment to address a point Weiss makes in the clip above. The deplorable idea that Charlie deserved to be murdered is “not just online,” as CBS News’ new editor-in-chief points out.
We have seen countless examples of this open celebration of political assassinations on college campuses since the attack on Charlie. At Talking Point USA events. At music festivals. In the streets.
Have you seen a coordinated effort to denounce these people other than in conservative spaces like this? Have the media or lawmakers sternly advised people to take it down a notch? No, on the contrary, they have intensified the violent rhetoric in their favor. Or: “Qui tacet consenter videtur”.
Combine that with the fact that studies have shown that the left side of the political spectrum fully embraces a “culture of assassination,” and you have a recipe for more violence against conservatives in this country. Because there is no moral compass to guide these deranged people.
The left in this country has laid the groundwork, God forbid, for something much worse down the line. For what? Because they are no longer simply excluded from society. They no longer feel like they have to hide their darkest thoughts online.
Whether it’s a TPUSA event, CPAC, the March for Life, etc., the left has willingly given those who believe it’s acceptable to kill people they disagree with games and fire to get things done. And it only takes a person who, as Erika says, is “sick in their soul” to start again, or to do it to a much greater degree.
The hour-long town hall with Erika Kirk is scheduled to air Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/CT on CBS.
