DOW Confirms U.S. Navy Report Outlining Possible Punishments for Sen. Kelly Under ‘Review’ – RedState

Anyone expecting an announcement from the U.S. military about potential permanent consequences for former military or intelligence agency personnel following the release of that “unlawful orders” video by six now-national Democratic lawmakers may be about to hear some news.

As many RedState readers know, among the lawmakers was Arizona’s senior senator, Mark Kelly, and it was Kelly who the Pentagon singled out for review for “serious allegations of misconduct.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth directed the Navy, through a memorandum in late November, to study the matter extensively and submit a report with its findings/recommended actions. And as we’ve written, this could be just the start of bad news for the so-called “riotous six.”

Mark Kelly makes damning admission when asked specifically about ‘illegal orders’

Now it begins.

The War Department confirmed Thursday that, indeed, a report from Navy leadership is currently being reviewed by the military branch’s general counsel to determine possible sanctions against the retired Navy captain, according to comments from a department official to The Hill:

The U.S. Navy has submitted its report on potential sanctions against Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) following a recent video in which he and other Democratic lawmakers called on the U.S. military to disobey “unlawful orders.”

The report, commissioned by the [War] Department and referred to the Navy, was sent to the Pentagon’s Office of Legal Counsel, “where they are providing legal review and input,” a department official told The Hill on Thursday.

The publication also sought reaction from the Copper state senator and received a statement via a Kelly spokesperson. Readers can decide for themselves the level of seriousness shown below:

“It is unbelievable that with all the threats facing our country, Pete Hegseth has started this ridiculous process to try to intimidate Senator Kelly for saying something that Pete Hegseth himself has said repeatedly.”

The report continues with other excerpts from the statement:

Kelly was never contacted or briefed on the report and “it certainly won’t stop him from doing his job representing Arizona, whether it’s voting today to lower health care costs or making sure our military has what they need to do a very difficult job,” the spokesperson said, adding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Trump “could do each other a great favor and learn more about our nation’s history, the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Anyone who has been following Senator Kelly’s comments, since the release of the Dem video suggesting that the US military is ignoring orders from the Commander in Chief, is probably not surprised by any of this. We’ll see where things go from here.

This is a developing story. RedState will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
