Readers sound off on Jewish perspectives, Trump’s budget bill and a white gunman

Our countries betray their declared values

Chester, nj: although it is not mirror image articles, it is interesting to see the publishers of Natalie Sanandaji and Albert Fox Cahn next to each other (“feeling dangerous as a Jew in New York” and “Mamdani: No to Israel and yes to the Jews”, July 1).

Some key thoughts? Sanandaji has the SSPT of being a survivor of October 7. Although no place in the world is perfectly safe, a Jew in New York is probably as sure as any other American anywhere outside the United States; It will vary depending on the location and the situation. Sanandaji fears to speak in Hebrew on the phone in public? Imagine someone with spanish speaking olive complexion in public and seeing someone in dark clothes and a mask.

And Cahn is right: I will not stop supporting the right of Israel to exist, but I only see one future for Israel, and this implies a solution to two states. It is far in the future, but just like I hope for a post-donald Trump America, I hope for a Netanyahu Israel post-bibi. The two current administrations are an embarrassment of what their countries once represented (democracy, with the tiny “d”). It is not democracy by majority of the rules (which can quickly become the rule of the crowd), but constitutional democracy (and unfortunately, Israel has no constitution in part because being a Jewish state would be difficult to write in a constitution).

Tikkun Olam (literally, “repairing the world”) was once how I saw the United States and Israel, and I would like to review this. David J. Melvin

Tacit support

Pleasantville, NY: Zohran Mamdani’s website proudly displays the names and photos of 40 mainly and current public deputies who approve of his candidacy for the mayor of New York. These include Bernie Sanders, Brad Lander, Jerry Nadler and Robert Reich. Unless I hear the opposite of these high -level Jews, I suppose they agree with the repeated tacit approval of Mamdani to “globalize the intifada”. Howard Zane

Discriminatory platform

Fall River, Mass.: The commitment of the Mamdani election platform to move the land tax burden in New York in “richer and white districts” does not seem to go far enough. While he is there, why not distinguish the wealthy Jews, in particular those who have not voted for him and who support Israel? It may not be considered a complete solution to correct the disparities in property tax, but it would be a symbolic start rightly for the first mayor of “Globalize The Intifada” in New York. Charles Winokoor

Humanity vs inhumanity

Bedford, ny: I am indignant by your editorial (“Mamdani must disowns the words of hatred”, July 2). How would you call what is going on in Gaza without the intentional extermination of the Palestinians? Have you not looked at the daily Savragey tolls inflicted on the most innocent? Have you not listened to the testimonies of American and British doctors on the deliberate targeting of babies, with holes in their bubbles of elite shooters? Medical staff, journalists and humanitarian workers are deliberately murdered by the FDI? Does your editor-in-chief live in a cave or regurgits the lies targeted by Netanyahu, which was charged with war crimes? The atrocities are committed in the name of the self -defense and under the cover of a hostage rescue. Mamdani is right to condemn Netanyahu and his policies, who are also condemned by conscientious Jews who do not want the holocaust and the Jewish experience of persecution used as a coverage for genocide and persecution. Céline SECADA

Free meal

Scarborough, NY: The owners of Bodega who work hard are terrified by the fact that the plan of the socialist candidate of the town hall Mamdani to open the grocery stores led by the city would put them out of business. No need to worry. The shelves of the “ZOH” markets will be emptied by shoplifting and looters in the week following the opening. If you don’t pay for transport or daycare, why pay for food? Thomas F. Comiskey

Guilty

Carle Place, Li: The Verdict Sean Combs answers the question: Diddy or isn’t it? He did it. Rudy Rosenberg

Large, but not beautiful

Manhattan: If you voted for President Trump under the impression that he was going to brake the debt and the fascia deficits from the United States, you received a slap opposite. Some Trump supporters saw him as someone who would try to restore budgetary discipline, but this law is exactly the opposite. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that 3.3 billions of dollars will be added to the national debt over 10 years. This means higher borrowing costs, higher rates, a lower dollar and an economic contraction. Medicaid cuts can partly pay, although Alaska has been largely exempt from having Lisa Murkowski voted in the Senate. There is no significant reform here – no difficult choice, no restraint. Just more tax reductions for the rich to the detriment of the poor and the kick of the national debt can descend the road. A bold betrayal of the millions on Medicaid and an escalation of the fiscal irresponsibility that all Americans will pay for the line. Daniel Dolgicer

No friends at the top

Massapequa Park, Li: the only thing I can do to evacuate my frustration and my anger is to write a letter to the newspaper. When are you Republicans to wake up and realize that Trump and his billionaire friends steal not only the poor, but that they also steal you? They fly your freedom. Why don’t you see that? So many men and women have lost their lives to fight for all these freedoms, and you will just sit down and let it happen. You have to wake up and get rid of this corrupt and incompetent president. Impeach now. The 25th amendment requires it. Frank Mullahey

See you only

Rocky Point, Li: Can someone tell me why the ministry of motor vehicles no longer has an appointment? If there is a problem, why was it not corrected now? Glass

Interior district

Cornwall, NY: Morons on electric bikes! The state must suppress these idiots which lead electric bikes to public buildings. I am sick and tired of dodging the electric bikes inside the portion station of the port authority. In addition, I hear that the same problem takes place in Penn Station. Bad enough for us to dodge these idiots in the streets, but now we have to dodge them in public buildings. At the clown last week which almost struck me in the port authority: you were very lucky that you have continued. These public buildings should emit fines and put the bikes. Enough it’s already enough! Raymond Grosskopf

Unusual

Manhattan: The tragedy in Idaho of the murder of a sniper of the ambush of two firefighters and seriously injuring another is simply horrible. I can’t help but ask myself what was the Maga reaction if the shooter was identified as an undocumented immigrant and not as a 20 -year -old white man. I shiver to think what the social messages of Trump’s truth would have been, probably vilifying Joe Biden for having allowed the murderous foam in our country. Kristi Noem, in all his glory, calling criminal “illegal”; Tom Homan, Border Czar, threatening more deportations to save America. But as he was an American citizen who committed heinous crime and cold blood slaughter, not a word. No conviction of another example of insane armed violence in our country. No offer of thoughts and prayers of the Trump administration or a call to end this scourge of mass shootings that threatens our homeland and our security. Phoebe Celentano

Performance review

Largo, Florida: I must agree with the voice Michael Schettino concerning the criticism of Anthony Volpe. He’s not to throw away. But I refer to throwing when I discuss the philosophy of Volpe. He should take a career page to throw away and aim to strike line readers to the right field. His average is much higher when he does, and we need him on the basis, not trying to hit circuits. I also agree on other sub -performants, but let’s start with the largest – Aaron Boone and the analysis team. How can players work on their timing with the queues of the rotary door and play only three to four non-consecutive days per week? Why rest the players when they are hot? Why not manage by watching the match and using all the baseball knowledge you have acquired by being in such a baseball family? Michael Ferrara
