NASCAR Chicago 2025: Where to watch, live stream, lineup, preview, pick to win for the Grant Park 165

For almost 75 years in its history, Nascar had run everywhere in the United States on all types of Plietracks, from the smallest of the earthen and fastest superspeedways. But never before the highest level of Nascar had run in the streets of a big city – until the city of Chicago changes all this.
For the third consecutive year, Nascar commemorates on July 4 with his annual weekend of street race in Chicago, culminating in the Grant Park 165 in downtown Chicago. Up to two years so far, this event has hosted a story of Coming To America which saw Shane Van Gisbergen go from a visiting New Zealand who won during his beginnings in Nascar to a full-time cup driver, and a return to Victory Lane last year when Alex Bowman finished a two-year-old sequence without victory.
This year, the growing intensity of the Battle for the Nascar qualifiers occupies the front of the second city, because only four open places for non-vacancies now remain on the grid of the eliminatory series. One of these places was filled last week, when the local hero Chase Elliott won in Atlanta to buffer his place in the playoffs and pave the way in a second cup title.

Scenario to watch
This weekend brings a special qualification intrigue, because it is planned to focus on the race to race: 41 cars are registered for 40 places available on the field, which has marked the first time since 2018, a non-day race of 500 cups has had more than 40 cars. With five open cars in competition for four places available in the field, a car, a driver and a team will be forced to take care of and go home if they are the slowest open cars on Saturday.
Three of the open cars are lined up by full -time cutting teams, with 23XI of racing aligning n ° 67 for Corey Heim, Richard Childress Racing bringing n ° 33 for Austin Hill and Kaulig Racing aligning the No. 13 for the champion reigning supercars V8 Will Brow. Unless something unexpected, the battle for the last place in the field can be summed up in live motor sport live n ° 78 led by Katherine Legge and the Garage 66 car led by Josh Bilicki, who spoke to CBS Sports this week of pressure to make the ground.
“We are the smallest team by a longshot with a fraction of the next team budget, so people probably count us already,” said Bilicki before offering his own reasons for optimism. “I have run each cup race in the city center of Chicago, I have done a lot of SIM work in the past two years. So I have the impression that physically I am ready, mentally, I’m ready … it’s going to be difficult for us for sure. But I think I have the experience of doing what it takes to do the field on Sunday.”
More towards the front of the field, this weekend also sees the continuation of the challenge in season, which was completely lit a week ago when the seeded n ° 1 Denny Hamlin, the seeded n ° 2 Kyle Larson and others were largely eliminated due to a stack of 23 cars which opened the way to major upheavals. The challenges of the challenge in this week season are:
- N ° 32 Ty Dillon vs n ° 17 Brad Keselowski
- N ° 8 Alex Bowman against n ° 9 Bubba Wallace
- No. 12 John Hunter Nemechek vs n ° 5 Chase Elliott
- N ° 20 Erik Jones vs n ° 29 Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
- N ° 31 Noah Gragson vs n ° 15 Ryan Preece
- N ° 26 CARSON HOCEVAR VS n ° 23 Tyler Reddick
- N ° 22 AJ Allmendinger against n ° 6 Ty Gibbs
- N ° 14 Zane Smith vs n ° 3 Chris Buescher
Nascar News of the Week
- Trackhouse Racing announced this week that Daniel Suarez will not come back as a driver of the Chevrolet n ° 99 in 2026, making Suarez a free agent in what was presented as a “mutual decision”. Suarez, the first pilot hired by the team when he entered Nascar in 2021, will take some next season after winning his first two cup victories for Trackhouse and finished a 10th best in career in the championship ranking in 2022.
“I had some of the best years in my career in the series of Cups in Trackhouse. We had great successes in the team and I won incredible friends,” Suarez said in a statement. “We have made a team that no one had even heard in 2021 and in a few years, we won races and wove a weekly base.
“Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have mutually accepted each look in our own direction. I only want trackhouse nothing but the best, this team n ° 99 will always be special for me. And as I always say, the best is to come!”
While headquarters No. 99 is now open for 2026, the trackhouse of athletic reports should promote Connor Zilisch, 18, from the XFINITY series to go to the full -time team next season.
Choose to win
Shane Van Gisbergen (+185) – The rumors about the disappearance of Shane Van Gisbergen as a Nascar road racer turned out to be greatly exaggerated. SVG absolutely waxed the competition just a few weeks ago in Mexico City, leading 60 of the 100 laps and from the field on the final race of the green flag to win its second victory in the Cup by 16.5 seconds – the biggest margin of victory in a cup race since 2009.
