Arrest warrant issued for outgoing South Fulton Mayor Kamau

A judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau.

Kamau was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on the trespassing charges.

He has since arrived at the courthouse and is waiting for the judge to ask him if she will cancel the warrant.

The Fulton County Prosecutor formally charged Kamau with criminal trespassing in May, in connection with an alleged incident that occurred in July 2023.

District Attorney Fani Willis said in the charging document that Kamau “knowingly and unauthorizedly” entered a home on Cascade Palmetto Highway without permission in 2023.

Kamau was initially booked into the Fulton County Jail on $11,000 bail on the day of the alleged trespass. He was released later that day.

Kamau ran for office in November but received less than 5% of the vote. City Councilor Carmalitha Gumbs won a December runoff election to become mayor-elect.
