Veterans left scrambling for care after flooding closes Cobb clinic again
Some veterans were left scrambling to get care after flooding forced the closure of the West Cobb VA clinic in Marietta.
“My doctors sent me here to do lab work,” said former U.S. Marine Ronald Hadley. Channel 2’s Audrey Washington.
But Hadley didn’t know the West Cobb VA had been temporarily closed, until Washington told him Tuesday.

“And the pipes burst?” » Hadley asked.
“Yes, sir,” Washington replied.
“Isn’t this a joke?” » Hadley asked.
“No, sir,” Washington replied.

Launey Alexander found out when she saw a note at the front desk.

VA officials in Washington said a pipe burst and flooded the building this week.
The clinic experienced a similar incident when a pipe burst and flooded the facility in July.
“You’d expect someone to send us something to let us know. They’re mistreating us anyway,” one veteran said.
On Tuesday, some veterans who came to the clinic for lab work were sent to other clinics nearly a half-hour away.
“It’s about 10 miles away. I’ve never been to this clinic before, so I hope everything goes well,” Alexander said.
The VA said schedulers are contacting some veterans to change their appointments or arrange virtual appointments while work on the pipeline continues.
“I don’t know when I get to the new clinic if it will be crowded or crowded because of the overflow from this clinic that is currently closed,” Alexander said.
A representative from the Atlanta VA Health System said repairs should be completed soon.
