The MAGA Crack-Up Is Overrated. MAGA Is Here to Stay.
Some would argue that Republican politicians’ opposition to Trump is a reason to believe the whole circus tent is about to collapse. Marjorie Taylor Greene is leaving Congress and rumor has it that Nancy Mace (who appears to be struggling with mental health issues) will soon follow her. There are Trump’s health problems and the obvious rivalry of Cabinet members like JD Vance, Pete Hegseth and Marco Rubio to be seen as the president’s natural successor in the MAGA movement.
However, this does not mean that MAGA is disintegrating. What defines MAGA is still here and will not disappear in the foreseeable future. If you boil the equation down to the simplest terms, you have Trump voters who pay attention to chaos and those who don’t. Any way you slice it, neither group will suddenly start voting for Democrats, regardless of which monkey wins the pooping contest.
When you look at the element of MAGA that pays attention to Carlson, Fuentes, Kirk, Matt Walsh, etc., they are die-hard true believers. The only real difference between them is that when discussing which groups of people should be loaded into a rocket and fired into the sun, some of them would put Jews in the rocket with transgender people and immigrants, and others would not. In fact, there aren’t many fundamental differences of opinion between them, other than which of them should ideologically lead the country after Trump goes to sleep for the last time.
