Disgraced DC Police Chief Who Cooked Crime Stats Melts Down in One Doozy of a Final Rant – RedState

Pamela Brown, the disgraced — and now “former” — police chief of Washington, D.C., had her “coming out” ceremony on Friday, and, boy, was it a doozy. Leaving in style was apparently not on the agenda.

A farewell ceremony marks a law enforcement officer’s last day on the job, and the departing officer traditionally receives certain honors, a final radio call or a symbolic final march to honor his or her years of service. Brown opted not to come out in style and, instead, took the opportunity to offer a few final words to throw a decidedly unhinged and rude “F you” to his “haters.” Worse yet, she used the Bible to justify her speech.

DC Police Chief Cooked Crime Books: New Surveillance Bomb Drops

As RedState previously reported, Brown submitted his resignation to Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser earlier this month after the Trump White House, which has played a significant role this year in patrolling the nation’s capital’s streets and reducing crime, questioned crime data coming from Brown’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). From Ward Clark:

We covered the sudden resignation of District of Columbia Police Chief Pamela Smith. Today, thanks to an investigation by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, we have a much clearer picture of why Chief Smith resigned; namely, the testimony of several of her subordinates that she had pressured them to change the records to make crime rates in the district appear much less dire than they actually were. It was these crime rates that prompted President Trump to deploy the National Guard to the capital to restore order.

At the time of her resignation, Brown struck a gracious tone, saying, “I am deeply humbled, grateful and profoundly appreciative of my time serving the District of Columbia. Serving as Police Chief has been the greatest honor of my career, and I want to express my sincere thanks to Mayor Muriel Bowser for appointing me to this position and to the DC Council for their unwavering support throughout my tenure.

Well, all those warm thoughts and positive vibes disappeared Friday when Brown’s latest remarks turned into a bitter score-settling. She only had one thing on her mind: her enemies. After congratulating herself on doing a great job — she “felt” that crime had “changed” under her leadership — Brown invoked the Bible and signed off with an angry “F you.”

“I’m about to be the Rev. Pamela A. Smith for a few moments,” Smith said. “I will never compromise my integrity for a few crime numbers.”

She appealed to critics, saying: “How dare you attack my integrity. Attack my character. You don’t know who I belong to.”

Mixing pulpit and police politics, Smith evoked Jesus’ words on the cross while calling out critics.

“So I’m going to consult the Bible when I say this. To my enemies, ‘F’ you,” Smith said. “No, this is not a moment where I put the mic down. …I forgive you.”

Local media have been downright flattering in their coverage of Brown’s latest stunt. It was apparently a “fiery rebuke,” “strong parting words,” and “a moving sendoff.”

In fact, it was a completely inappropriate and unprofessional spectacle that should prevent Pamela Brown from ever holding a position of power again. And that means a deep blue city will definitely captivate her at some point in the future.
