Translator Services Helping Illegal Aliens to Cheat on Drivers Exam

A man who recently quit his job at the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) claims translation services help illegal aliens cheat their way into getting their driver’s licenses despite a lack of English proficiency or understanding of the traffic laws, and without even taking a road test.
John Morin, who worked for the BMV as a license examiner for more than a decade, said he has seen translation services help immigrants cheat on driving tests by providing them with test answers directly, not just offering to help them understand the questions on their test, Maine Wire’s Steve Robinson reported.
“I had to leave that job because of all the cheating that was happening regularly with people overseas. I was seeing up to 10 or 12 Class C licenses issued by us,” said Morin, who worked for the BMV from 2013 to 2024.
Morin noted that migrants using translators passed their tests at a rate of 100 percent, compared to just 70 percent for English-speaking drivers. According to Morin, migrants buy licenses and not translation services.
The former DMV employee also claims he repeatedly alerted his bosses to the cheating schemes, but they ignored the warnings. In fact, he says he was punished for raising his concerns.
“I wrote it up and sent a referral for criminal prosecution to our BMV detectives, and I got written up for writing it,” Morin said. “This was after many, many attempts on my part to root out cheating during my time at BMV.”
“During my time there, examiners repeatedly raised this issue with our superiors, only to be told there was no cheating or, ‘How do we know there is cheating?’ “, explained Morin. “All the examiners who deal with this in person, on a daily basis, know there is cheating going on.”
“The Secretary of State’s office, which runs the BMV, will always cover up these illegal and dangerous practices,” he added. “I saw this personally from when Matt Dunlap was secretary of state to when Shenna Bellows was there.”
State officials denied any cheating and insisted the investigation found no substantial evidence. They also said that whistleblowers are never punished for reporting problems.
Morin’s Maine tipoff comes amid reports from across the country of multiple traffic accidents at the hands of illegal aliens who were granted driver’s licenses by blue state authorities. Many of these incidents resulted in the deaths of Americans, deaths that could have been avoided if left-wing Democrats had not prioritized the well-being of illegal immigrants over Americans.
