“Big Brother” alum Mickey Lee died Thursday after suffering multiple heart attacks following complications from the flu, according to his family. She was 35 years old.

Lee’s family announced his death Friday, or what they called his “transition,” with a statement on the former “Big Brother” star’s Instagram account.

“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences across the country with his appearance on Big Brother, where his authenticity, strength and wit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members,” they wrote. “We will remember her for the joy she brought to the lives of so many and for the authentic connections she made both on and off screen.”

Earlier this week, Lee’s family created a GoFundMe account for the reality TV star’s “medical journey,” saying the funds were needed to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance. The family raised more than $32,500 as of Friday afternoon.

Lee suffered multiple cardiac arrests following flu-related complications, according to the GoFundMe page, and was in critical but stable condition earlier this week.
