Viral Ghost Daycare Video Forces Tim Walz to Issue Frenzied Damage Control Statement – RedState
A spokesperson for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D-) issued a defensive statement Sunday evening following an explosive video showing empty “daycare centers” with misspelled signs, locked doors and no sign of children despite millions of taxpayer dollars.
Coupled with his posts on X earlier in the evening, it seems clear that Walz and his office are in the midst of a crisis.
The governor’s office rushed to issue a statement to Fox News, insisting that Walz had been cracking down on fraud for years by hiring auditors, shutting down programs and supporting lawsuits.
“The governor has worked for years to crack down on fraud and has asked the state Legislature for more power to take aggressive action,” the spokesperson said. “He increased oversight, including launching investigations into these specific facilities, one of which was already closed.”
The statement added that Walz “hired an outside firm to audit payments to high-risk programs, completely closed the Housing Stabilization Services program, announced the appointment of a new statewide director of program integrity, and supported criminal prosecution.”

Reporter Nick Shirley destroys Tim Walz’s desperate attempt to appear competent as scandal implodes
Walz also tried to divert attention away from the ongoing scandal, as RedState’s Nick Arama reported, by posting an X-rated message highlighting all the supposed positives about his condition.
“State #8 for safety. State #5 for living. State #3 for employment. State #2 for raising a family and State #2 for retiring,” he wrote. “We’ve made progress, but there’s still more to do to provide security, opportunity and freedom for all Minnesotans. I won’t stop fighting until we’re #1.”
The message backfired almost immediately with independent videographer Nick Shirley, the man behind the viral ghost daycare video, suggesting that Minnesota is “#1 in fraud.”
Walz’s frenzied response comes as a 42-minute video by Shirley — now viewed tens of millions of times — exposes several seemingly deserted daycares and health care providers, including facilities with ties to Somalia.
One facility that particularly angered viewers was a daycare with the sign misspelled “Quality Learning Center” that had no one on staff even though it was licensed to care for a maximum of 99 children. This same center had received millions of dollars of federal taxpayer money over the past several years.

The explosive images sparked outrage from figures like Elon Musk (who called for charges against Walz), Vice President JD Vance (who called him a “microcosm of immigration fraud”) and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-6), who publicly called out the governor.
“$4 million in hard-earned taxes goes to an education center that doesn’t even know how to spell ‘learning’ correctly. Care to explain this one, Tim Walz? » asked Emmer.
The daycare controversy comes as the Somali community is already embroiled in a fraud scandal that some observers say may have cost taxpayers as much as $9 billion. Some companies have been accused of funneling millions of fraudulently obtained funds to the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
Walz’s efforts to limit the damage appear increasingly desperate. But until investigations establish accountability within the governor’s office, there is no reason to believe it will not survive the fraud debacle.
If he do To survive this political mess, it seems reasonable to assume that no Democrat will ever be held accountable for the corruption taking place under their leadership.
