Caught Flat-Footed on Massive MN Fraud, Tim Walz Deflects and Points at Trump – RedState

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is now scrambling to deal with the burgeoning fraud scandal in his state, following independent journalist Nick Shirley’s viral video.
He issued a statement on X on Tuesday, hoping to stem the tide of fury over the issue. I don’t think this is going to work. And you’ll never guess who he tried to turn on or blame for not taking the fraud seriously. Or maybe you can guess, if you know what the Democrats’ default excuse is always.
We have spent years fighting fraud, referring cases to law enforcement, shutting down and auditing high-risk programs.

Is he joking? He says in this statement that he takes responsibility and that they have been tackling this problem for years.
But if this were true, why is this still happening in many social service programs? He didn’t stop it.
Why is he trying to deflect attention and blame President Donald Trump, who had nothing to do with this fraud? Indeed, it was the DOJ that initiated proceedings against nearly 100 people, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Walz said he has hired a program integrity officer in state government. Damn, stupid, I would have thought that was part of the governor’s role. He said they were hiring a lot of people. Including investigators, auditors and law enforcement. So now they’re going to spend more money, but will it make a difference?
This fraud has been going on for years, in several programs. In fact, a Minnesota lawmaker dispelled Walz’s claims that he had fixed the problem.

This hasn’t aged well: What Walz said about child care providers in 2024 is coming back to haunt him
State Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove) noted that she raised the issue of child care fraud with Walz last February. She said she gave him a cue and he didn’t do anything.
I Gave Them a Roadmap Against Child Care Fraud @nickshirleyy exhibited last February. @Tim_Walz And his agencies knew it and did nothing.
As governor, I will stop payments for any suspected fraud and double-check the eligibility of all providers and beneficiaries. https://t.co/zAOR4mPH6R

She heads the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention Committee and is running for governor against Walz.
Robbins also specifically refuted Walz’s tweet, saying he did nothing, ignored the whistleblowers, and called anyone questioning it “racist.”
Ridiculous!
Tim Walz has done nothing but turn a blind eye to the fraud, ignore whistleblower reports, and call anyone who questions it “racist.”
The heroes of this story are the whistleblowers, the prosecutors and all those who expose fraud – without covering it up like Walz! https://t.co/NMzuIoUFsx

If Walz tries to blame Trump or talk about racism in the face of legitimate concerns about fraud, he doesn’t take responsibility. There’s a reason it’s lasted so long, and it’s that kind of attitude.
