Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., took issue with President Donald Trump’s strikes on Venezuela, which led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, arguing that the president should focus on domestic politics.

NBC’s Kristen Welker asked Greene to respond to President Donald Trump’s argument that leading a country in South America was America’s priority.

Greene said the administration should focus on Mexico and argued that country was the source of fentanyl overdoses and deaths, before asserting that domestic policy should be Trump’s priority.

“I’m objecting here to the Trump administration that campaigned on making America great again and that we thought was putting America first. I want domestic policy to be the priority that helps Americans afford to live after four disastrous years of the Biden administration,” Greene told Welker.

“I want to see national policies that prioritize jobs and affordable housing for Americans after four disastrous years of the Biden administration, and I want to see national priorities that put Americans first when it comes to health care, too high health insurance costs, auto insurance, homeowners insurance and these are issues that matter to Americans,” she added.

During the interview, Greene said, “we don’t view Venezuela as our neighborhood.”

She described Maduro’s attack and capture as part of “the same Washington strategy that we are so sick of and that does not serve the American people.”

However, she said she was happy that Venezuelans had been freed from Maduro.
