Mugshot Emerges of Deranged Man Accused in Vance Home Attack, VP Blasts Media for Publishing Home Images – RedState

Authorities released the photo of William DeFoor, 26, after his arrest for allegedly trying to break into Vice President JD Vance’s Cincinnati home with a hammer.
Looking at the picture, it’s hard to believe this guy is an adult.
The booking photo, released by the Hamilton County Justice Center, also lists the charges DeFoor faces, including vandalism, criminal trespass, criminal damage or endangerment and obstructing official business.
The attack, reported by RedState’s Nick Arama, took place early Monday at Vance’s Ohio home, where DeFoor allegedly used a hammer to smash several windows in what authorities described as an attempted break-in.

That wide-eyed look says it all.
Cincinnati police and Secret Service agents responded quickly to reports of vandalism, arriving on scene to arrest the man without further incident. No one was injured, as Vance and his family had already left for Washington, D.C. by that time.
DeFoor, according to a Secret Service spokesperson, was arrested “for causing property damage, including breaking exterior windows of a personal residence associated with the vice president.”
He is also accused of damaging a vehicle on the property.
Vice President Vance addressed the incident in an article on X, thanking law enforcement for their quick action while calling the perpetrator “crazy.”
He’s not wrong. Once again, it shows in the eyes. I mean, if they combined the DNA of Chunk from “The Goonies” and Ham Porter from “The Sandlot” in a lab somewhere, you’d have something similar to this photo.
Additionally, Vance expressed frustration with media outlets distributing images of damaged property, questioning the “news value” of such coverage and arguing that it unnecessarily exposes his family’s privacy.
I appreciate everyone’s well wishes regarding the attack on our home. From what I know, some madman tried to break in by hammering on the windows. I thank the Secret Service and the Cincinnati Police for their quick response.
We weren’t even at home since we had returned…

I appreciate everyone’s well wishes regarding the attack on our home. From what I know, some crazy person tried to break in by hammering on the windows,” the vice president wrote.
“A request to the media: We try to protect our children as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service,” Vance added. “With this in mind, I am skeptical about the news value of plastering pictures of our house with holes in the windows.”
The widely publicized images of her damaged home would no doubt be a difficult thing for her three young children to deal with.
At this time, authorities have not publicly revealed any specific motive for DeFoor’s actions. Was this a calculated attack or just a deranged “crazy” person going on a vandalism spree, as Vance suggests?
DeFoor reportedly had a prior vandalism conviction in 2024 for breaking windows at a Cincinnati business, leading to his placement in a two-year court-ordered mental health treatment program in lieu of a traditional sentence.
The investigation is still ongoing. RedState will keep readers informed as events warrant.
