LG’s CLOiD robot took the stage at CES 2026 on Monday, offering our first look at the robot in action. During LG’s keynote, the company showed off how CLOiD can charge your washer or dryer — albeit slowly — as part of its goal to create a “work-free home.”

CLOiD waved both of his five-fingered hands as he rolled around on stage. Brandt Varner, vice president of sales for LG’s home appliance division, followed and asked the robot to take care of the wet towel he was holding. “Sure, I’ll start the laundry,” CLOiD said in a masculine voice. “Let me show everyone what I can do.”

The robot’s animated eyes “blinked” as it approached an automatically opening washing machine (I hope CLOiD can open that door itself!), extending its left arm into the washing machine and dropping the towel into the drum. The entire process – from getting the towel to putting it in the machine – took almost 30 seconds, which makes me wonder how long it would take to load a week’s worth of laundry.

The robot returned later in the speech to bring a bottle of water to another presenter, Steve Scarbrough, senior vice president of LG’s HVAC division. “I noticed by your voice and tone that you might like some water,” he said before putting the bottle back and punching Scarbrough.

It’s still unclear when or if LG CLOiD will ever be available for purchase, but at least we’ll have WALL-E’s strange cousin to help us with some tasks around the house.
