Underwater turbine spinning for 6 years off Scotland's coast is a breakthrough for tidal energy

Subjected in approximately 40 meters of water off the Scottish coast, a turbine has been running for more than six years to exploit the power of the ocean tide and produce electricity. The professional association Ocean Energy Europe says that keeping such a large turbine operating in the hard sea environment which is a record that demonstrates the commercial viability of technology. Energy technologies of tide are still at the start of their commercial development, but their potential for clean energy generation is important. The Meygen Toid Energy Project has four turbines which feed up to 7,000 houses per year.
