ICE Agents ‘Don’t Belong in Our Cities’, Need an Investigation of Minneapolis Shooting

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MS NOW’s “The Briefing,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that while there is still a need for an investigation into the Minneapolis shooting, “we should not have ICE agents patrolling our streets.” They are not necessary, they create chaos and they even create deaths. » And they “have no place in our cities, purely and simply”.
Schumer said: “[T]The bottom line is very simple, Jen: We shouldn’t have ICE agents patrolling our streets. They are not necessary, they create chaos and even deaths. The mayor of Minneapolis didn’t want it. Many other cities have not done so. He’s kind of a strutting Trump. But they have no place in our cities, pure and simple.”
He added: “We need a full investigation into what happened.”
Schumer also said that while he would not get ahead of the relevant committees and subcommittees on whether the Department of Homeland Security budget should place more constraints on ICE, “I am appalled by what they are doing. I have voted repeatedly for many different restrictions on ICE and the FBI, and I believe the committee will take a very serious look at it.”
