Stop using your phone as a flashlight, buy this really good one instead for $22

I’m tired of using the flashlight on my iPhone 17 Pro just to be disappointed by the constant brightness. That’s why I always carry an ultra-compact, inexpensive, rechargeable flashlight with me – and you should too.
Most phone flashlights aren’t very bright
Phone flashlights are convenient, but not ideal.
Although the iPhone 17 Pro has a brighter LED flash than any previous iPhone, that’s still not the case. this is all brilliant. The other night I was taking my trash can out to the street and went to use my iPhone’s LED flash as a flashlight. It worked, but it didn’t really do a great job of lighting the path in front of me.
The problem with most phone flashlights is that they are designed to be used as a flash for photos, not as a flashlight. In fact, most phones only produce around 30 to 60 lumens, which is enough to be seen when walking around your house at night or in similar scenarios.
Stop using your phone as a flashlight
Smartphones are too expensive to be used as disposable tools.
Even the cheapest flashlights typically produce nearly three times that amount, like this $10 flashlight on Amazon that delivers 140 lumens. There’s really no reason to rely on your phone’s flashlight as your primary method of lighting up the night these days. There are low-cost flashlights, ultra-compact flashlights, and much more. It’s just best to use a dedicated tool for the job, unless you simply don’t have one on you.
These days, I almost always have a dedicated flashlight on me. Not a big bulky bag that takes up an entire pocket (although I had one with me). No, I just have a little flashlight hanging on my keychain that makes my iPhone’s LED light look like a toy.
OLIGHT’s ultra-compact I1R 2 Pro flashlight offers significantly more light output
3x the light output for 2% of the cost.
While the $10 flashlight I just mentioned is quite bulky and no one would want to carry it around all day, the OLIGHT I1R 2 Pro is quite the opposite. Delivering 180 lumens of brightness and measuring just about 0.5 x 1.5 inches, this compact flashlight is a much better option for lighting the path ahead. As you can see in the image comparison above, the darker image is the wall lit only by my iPhone 17 Pro’s flashlight at full brightness, and the other is the OLIGHT I1R 2 that I have. The camera settings remained the same between the two photos.
I have the previous version of the OLIGHT I1R 2 Pro on my keychain, the OLIGHT I1R 2. My flashlight only reaches 150 lumens of brightness, but that’s still almost three times that of my iPhone. The difference between using the OLIGHT I1R 2 and my iPhone is astronomical.
Sometimes when I use my iPhone’s flashlight, I have a really hard time seeing what I’m looking for, whether it’s the path in front of me, under a couch, or in a dark closet. Every time I use the I1R 2, it’s a night and day difference. My iPhone’s flashlight looks like a toy from 1999.
The OLIGHT I1R 2 Pro has a built-in USB port for recharging the internal battery. My old OLIGHT I1R 2 charges with microUSB, but the new I1R 2 Pro uses USB-C, which makes it much more convenient to charge.
This compact flashlight is actually quite surprising when it comes to battery life. With a new charge, you’ll get 23 minutes of runtime at 180 lumens, or 12 hours of runtime at the lower 5 lumens. Why would you want to use 5 lumens when 180 lumens is an option? Sometimes you just need a little light, and it’s nice that this flashlight offers both options.
It’s small enough to fit on your key ring, making it as convenient as a phone.
You might be thinking, “I already have my phone with me, why would I want to bring a flashlight?” » But I barely notice the OLIGHT I1R 2 on my key ring.
I use a belt clip for my keys and only keep on my key ring the keys that I absolutely have to have with me. Despite this, the OLIGHT I1R 2 is barely noticeable when walking around. When I kept my keys in my pocket, I still didn’t realize it. My wife also has one in her purse, and she doesn’t even realize it until she needs it.

The OLIGHT I1R 2 Pro LED flashlight is ultra-compact while remaining quite bright. With an output of up to 180 lumens, this USB-C rechargeable flashlight is small enough to fit on your keychain and let you light up the darkness, wherever you are.
This flashlight is really small and worth keeping with you every time you leave the house. Having a 180 lumen flashlight in your pocket or on your keys will come in handy more often than you think.
