‘A Warning for the Rest of the Country’ — Navy SEAL Running for Senate Sounds Alarm Over ICE Shooting, Fraud in Minnesota

As Minnesota emerges at the center of a deadly shooting involving an ICE agent in Minneapolis and a massive fraud scandal, former Navy SEAL Adam Schwarze seizes the opportunity to run for U.S. Senate. Appearing on Breitbart News Saturday Along with Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle, Schwarze framed his campaign as a call to action for Minnesotans and the rest of the nation.
Throughout the show, Schwarze focused on the contrast between his conservative platform and what he described as the far-left trajectory of the Democratic contenders in the race, including Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Rep. Angie Craig and former state Senate Minority Leader Melissa López Franzen. Schwarze noted that Franzen had dropped out of the race and predicted that Flanagan would be the nominee, saying that Angie Craig is “too Schumer, too Washington, D.C.” and therefore not aligned with the party’s “socialist base.”
He said Flanagan, who is widely expected to win the Democratic nomination, is running “as an open socialist,” with support from Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. Schwarze argued that the Minnesota Democratic Party is moving away from traditional representation and toward centralized, party-controlled nominations. He compared this process to how Kamala Harris became vice president, saying, “I’ve already won more primaries in my entire adult life than Kamala,” emphasizing his assertion that Democrats “nominate a candidate” rather than allowing voters to choose in open primaries.
Schwarze called the ICE shooting a consequence of what he called a breakdown of law and order in Minneapolis, saying, “This tragedy is happening because they are causing an insurrection in Minneapolis right now.” » He blamed “failed leadership” on Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Mayor Jacob Frey, accusing them of “fanning the flames” and “fanning the flames.”
Describing the situation on the ground, Schwarze said: “In Minneapolis right now, there’s crime, there’s looting, again, there’s people breaking into private property, into hotels last night. » He claimed that local law enforcement had effectively left the scene, leaving only ICE as the last line of command. According to Schwarze, this environment – amplified by false narratives and political interference – serves “as a warning to everyone across America” of what happens when there is a lack of leadership and inaction. Drawing on his service as a Navy SEAL, he compared Minnesota’s current situation to a cluster of red stars, a military signal flare intended to alert allies of impending danger.
Schwarze also addressed fraud linked to Somali organizations in Minnesota, saying the misappropriation of federal funds should concern voters across the country. “These billions of dollars are your auditors’ money, their federal tax money that was stolen by the Walz and Flanagan administration,” he explained. Running to replace Smith, he also claimed: “Tina Smith, even if she resigns now, she was a victim of insider trading and fraud herself, so she wasn’t eligible. That’s why she resigned.”
On the campaign front, Schwarze positioned himself as the Republican front-runner, noting that he was the first statewide candidate to report raising $1 million and suggesting that he would likely report more money available than any other GOP candidate. “The contrast couldn’t be greater,” he remarked. “You could have me—an infantry Marine for ten years, a Navy SEAL for eleven years—present me as a constitutional conservative, someone who fights for life, liberty, freedom, someone of faith and character.”
Schwarze’s military service began the day he turned 18, just weeks after the September 11 attacks. He served in all five phases of Operation Iraqi Freedom, conducted diplomatic security missions overseas and later became a SEAL officer. His deployments included high-stakes missions targeting adversaries such as China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.
He praised former President Trump’s first-term foreign policy, particularly the elimination of ISIS and the Abraham Accords, and called for strong leadership on national defense in the Senate. “I know what good leadership looks like, and that’s why I’m running,” Schwarze said.
Looking ahead to November, Schwarze said he is confident in the Republican Party’s ability to win in Minnesota, a state that hasn’t voted Republican in a presidential race since 1972, but where Trump came close. “Navy SEALs don’t go into fights they won’t win,” he told Boyle. “We are 7 out of 7 in the federal general election. I will win.”
