President Donald Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told the Daily Caller they did not know about reports that the administration unfroze money being withheld from Planned Parenthood.
The American Civil Liberties Union and the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) announced on Tuesday that they were dropping the NFPRHA’s lawsuit against the administration over the freezing of Title X family planning grants because the funds had been restored. Trump told the Caller he had not heard of the news and deferred to Secretary Kennedy, who also said he was unaware of the report. “It’s being reported that Health and Human Services released frozen funds to Planned Parenthood. I’m wondering why this happened and why Planned Parenthood is receiving any federal funds?” White House correspondent Reagan Reese asked.
“I don’t know anything about that,” Trump said, before deferring to Kennedy.
“I haven’t heard that,” Kennedy said after Reese restated the question.

Some pro-life organizations expressed their frustration with the news to The Daily Signal.
Tom McClusky, a longtime pro-life operative and CatholicVote director of government affairs, told the outlet that the administration might not had a choice about releasing the funds.
HHS blocked the funds prior to amending 42 U.S. Code Part 300, which covers family planning grants, The Daily Signal reported.
“They were virtually certain to lose the lawsuit, forcing them to repay the full amount plus interest and cover attorneys’ fees,” McClusky said.
“Even worse, continuing the litigation would have entangled any future funding cuts—which are highly likely under the new regulations—in prolonged court battles before an unsympathetic judge,” he added.
