Florida Man Running for Congress Touts a ‘Nazi’ Web Address Connects to DHS

Meet Mark Davis. He is running for Congress in Florida and is running in the state’s 16th congressional district. A few things to know about Mark: He’s a father, a small business owner, and a virulent anti-Trump leftist.

One thing Mr. Davis is not is a reputable IT professional.

Things started when Mark, on his social media accounts, pointed out to the public that when you type in a specific insightful web address, you see a curious development.

Mark was so excited about this “discovery” that he also posted a video showing you it happens. That’s when things started to go off the rails for the DC hopeful. Seeing the screen he helpfully shares in the clip, as he typed in the infamous web address “Nazi.US,” we also got a glimpse of his search history in a drop-down window. Other terms with the German part appear, along with a full address previously visited by the creator of the GoDaddy website.

It took the minimum of research by others to discover that, yes, it was Mr. Davis who had registered this address. He even used his campaign website to secure this domain. Yet here he was on social media, claiming it was a curious discovery. In his video, he introduces it as “Internet Secrets You Didn’t Know About – Part One!” » After being called out for the obvious theatrics, it appears we never got “Part 2” of his web discovery series.

Davis also appears to have shared his discovery with the media, and did quite a bit. At TMZ, they reported on the “Exclusive Details!” » of this Web phenomenon and demonstrates equally limited computer dexterity. The copy says, “There’s a big question mark” regarding domain ownership, when 15 seconds of applied research would have shown them.

We also see that IT skills are not the only area where Mark is lacking. His campaign faces some challenges. Last October, when he announced his candidacy, Davis ran as a Democrat. However, browsing his campaign website reveals no party designations, and his front fundraising page on the Democratic Party portal Act Blue is a dead end.

It turns out that Davis had originally registered as an independent (with no party affiliation), and this issue prevented him from accessing the Democrats’ favored fundraising pipeline. This being the reality, it’s not too surprising to see a struggling candidate resort to desperate ploys to gain traction with voters.

Due to his compromised skills in web notoriety, Davis was reduced to hostilities on social media. He is reduced to insisting that he always intended to claim his web portal stunt, and he scorns those who point out his efforts. Being a divisive figure is certainly a creative move in a campaign, at a time when most candidates are striving to appeal to as broad a voter base as possible:

Warning: language.
