Congressman calls for halt to troubled MDC Brooklyn’s intake of immigrants detained by ICE

The American representative Dan Goldman calls for an immediate judgment for the consumption of prisoners of immigrants by the MDC Brooklyn in difficulty, saying that the influx of prisoners will only deteriorate “already deplorable conditions of locking”.
“It is neither ethical nor safe for the BOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons) to divert the limited resources and spaces of the installation of the MDC to accommodate non -criminal individuals to advance the mass expulsion program of the Trump administration, when your agency failed to meet safety standards before the additional pressure of these new detainees”.
Goldman, which represents the 10th district of the New York Congress, which includes MDC Brooklyn, said that additional immigration prisoners and the application of American customs in the Federal Sunset Park prison “already overloaded” “inevitably exacerbated the already deplorable conditions of MDC for prisoners and staff”.
Last month, the MDC Brooklyn began to have more than 100 ice prisoners in its building is within the framework of an inter -standing agreement between ice and the BOP to use eight federal facilities across the country so that immigrants were trapped in Trump’s repression.
Since detained immigrants have shown an increase in locking that often takes place due to staff shortages and dangerous conditions, said Goldman. These closures isolate prisoners, subjecting them to an increased risk of negligence, he argued.
In recent years, federal judges have described prison as “barbarian” and “contemptuous human dignity”, wrote Goldman. Defense lawyers have also long denounced the hellish conditions in the seriously in the in-root prison, which has experienced several deadly stabs and numerous violent attacks. Inmates have also complained about the spoiled and infested food and prison staff have been accused of ignoring the seriously and fatal medical problems of prisoners and fatal.

In addition to requiring the suspension of all transfers to MDC Brooklyn, Goldman asked how Bop and Ice decided that the notorious prison would be an appropriate place to accommodate immigrants detained, some of whom do not have a criminal record.
Goldman also requested a detailed assessment of the prison conditions before and after the ice prisoners, describing how BOP adjusts personnel schedules and the allocation of resources to accommodate them.
Finally, the Congress Member asked if BOP would receive funds allocated through the `Big Beau Bill ” of President Trump, who put aside about $ 170 billion for the immigration and border objectives of the administration and how they intend to use this money to solve personnel problems and improve prisons maintenance.
Goldman asked BOP’s response to the letter of investigation before July 18. The federal agency had no immediate response to a request for comments from the news Thursday.
