On Tuesday, January 20, the professional baseball player’s wife shared a sweet photo of her and Alex on Instagram. The photo showed the two kissing during the golden hour with bright smiles on their faces. In the photo’s caption, Kayla shared a touching sentiment about the couple’s late daughter, Sterling, who they lost last October.

“Mom and Dad Sterling 🩷,” she captioned the post.
The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, 29, and his wife first announced the tragic news in a joint statement on Friday, November 7.
“Our little angel,” the couple began, alongside a photo of their hands resting on their daughter’s. “We love you forever and you are always with us.”
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday October 26. There are no words to describe the pain we are going through but we carry her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her,” they continued.
The couple then thanked the Dodgers organization for their support, following the team’s World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on November 1.

“Our baseball family showed up for us and we couldn’t do this without them.”
“Thank you Dodger Nation, the Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL of your messages, comments and posts. It has brought us so much comfort,” the Vesias continued.
“Finally, we would like to thank Cedars Sinai and all the medical staff who helped Kayla and Sterling. Every person we met was truly amazing,” the message ended, while the couple signed off, “With love, the Vesias.”

Kayla recently made her return to TikTok, speaking out for the first time since the couple announced the death of their baby girl. On Friday, January 2, she shared an emotional video of herself checking in after the last few months.

“You know, I don’t have much to say, honestly,” Kayla began in the video, which was just over two minutes long. “Alex and I are just trying to get through it every day. Every day is so different for us right now and I don’t really have the words.”
“It was just to come here and say, ‘Thank you,’” she continued. “I’m really grateful for your community and just expressing your support and love for us. It’s really brought us a lot of comfort during this time.”
She said she didn’t know what her “content would look like in the future,” adding, “But I want to share my journey.” »

“I don’t know how much I’m going to share. I don’t know. I don’t know the details, but I know I want to share, and if it can help someone who’s going through the same thing, feel like they’re not alone,” she said, adding, “I promise I won’t come here and cry. I don’t want to come here and cry. I don’t think it’s fun for anyone.”
Kayla noted that talking to her followers is “a good outlet” in addition to her and Alex meeting with a therapist.
“Right now I don’t have much to say, just that I’m really grateful to you guys for showing so much love and support during this time,” she said. “I don’t know what it’s going to look like in the future, but I just wanted to come check in with you guys, and most importantly, just say ‘Thank you.’
