White Sox pay tribute to late closer Bobby Jenks by wearing ’45’ uniform patches

Chicago (AP) – The White Sox of Chicago paid tribute to Bobby Jenks closer by carrying “45” patches on their uniforms on Thursday evening.

The White Sox launched Jenks uniform numbers of uniform numbers against the Cleveland Guardians and will wear them for the rest of the season.

Champion of World Series and Double Star, Jenks died on Friday in Sirtra, Portugal, where he was treated for adenocarcinoma, a form of stomach cancer. He was 44 years old.

Jenks helped the White Sox win the 2005 World Series, saving four games in six appearances in the playoffs. He was on the mound for the final of match 4 in Houston, giving Chicago his first championship since 1917. Jenks made star teams while saving 41 games in 2006 and 40 in 2007.

The members of the 2005 team meet in Chicago this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the title race. The White Sox should unveil a statue of the former AS Mark Buehrle on Friday.
