Wemo Is Ending Support for Devices as New as Two Years Old

If the WEMO Smart caps and switches have been a basic food for your smart house configuration, you can be awake brutal. Belkin ends a lot of Wemo aircraft, some of which have only a few years.

Belkin, the company behind Wemo, has informed customers by email today that it derives technical management for a range of its WeMo products. From January 31, 2026, many of your WeMo devices will actually become much more stupid, losing their connection to the cloud and, by extension, to the WEMO application, to remote access and even to your vocal assistants like Alexa and Google Home. Belkin cites the evolutionary technological landscape as the reason for this decision. Essentially, they move their concentration and resources to other areas of the company. If your WeMo product is still under warranty on this breakdown or after January 31, you may be eligible for partial refund. However, Belkin will only take refund requests after the deadline.

Why a good smart house needs a hub

If you have already descended the rabbit hole in smart house gadgets, you have probably encountered devices that require a “hub”. You might think: “Why buy something that requires additional equipment?” I think you should seriously consider a center.

There are good news if your Wemo device was configured with Apple Homekit before the stop date. These devices will continue to brake using local Homekit control, which is not based on Belkin’s cloud services or the WEMO application. This also applies to new products based on Wemo’s wire (WLS0503 model numbers, WSC010, WSP100, WDC010), which will continue to operate via Homekit without hook.

Until the stop date, your devices should continue to operate as they have always done with the WEMO application and other integrated services. But once this switch has been overturned, everything based on Cloud connectivity – like Google Home, Alexa or the WEMO application itself for the remote control – will stop working. The Wemo application will no longer obtain updates after the cut -off date.

Belkin will always offer technical support and troubleshooting for your Wi-Fi Wi-Fi products until January 31. If you have Wemo devices in your home, your best bet is to check if they support Homekit. If they do, you can continue to use them with the domestic application. For devices out of war that will not work with Homekit, or if you just can’t use Homekit, you have electronic waste to recycle.

This is a huge disappointment, especially if you have built your smart home around WeMo devices. Unfortunately, this is the risk that is accompanied by devices that are based on the cloud to work. When the company that keeps this cloud on the move decides, it is over, you too.
