If TikTok influencers are to be believed, testosterone, or T, is the answer to everything from fitness frustrations to fatigue to low libido. But doctors warn that misinformation on social media is pushing men to resort to testosterone treatment they don’t need. This in turn carries risks to health and fertility. In the first part of a mini-series exploring the popularity of testosterone, Madeleine Finlay hears from Professor Channa Jayasena of Imperial College London, who chairs the Society for Endocrinology, about how the craze is manifesting in NHS clinics, and from ‘Sam’ who tells Madeleine about her own journey with the hormone.
