Donald Trump’s nominee for next Federal Reserve chairman, Kevin Warsh, appeared in the government’s Friday release of additional Jeffrey Epstein tiles.

Warsh’s name appears be on an email guest list at “St. Barts Christmas 2010”, among others like the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich and the disgraced director Brett Ratner. Warsh also appears on a list of people attending a dinner organized by the British aristocrat William Astor.

The news comes the same day Trump chosen Warsh for the Fed, a surprisingly conventional choice given Trump’s desperate desire to cut interest rates sharply. Warsh has a history of being cautious on inflation, but has signaled a willingness to cut rates in recent months.

Warsh has always been involved in monetary policy, having been appointed to the Fed in 2006. But his inclusion in the Epstein files is actually not surprising, given that his wife is a billionaire heiress. Jane Laudergranddaughter of Estée Lauder and daughter of Republican donor Ronald Lauder. This places him in the same wealthy circles in which Epstein himself operated.

However, it is unfortunate that this happened on the same day he was chosen for the Fed. Before Friday’s release, Warsh’s biggest controversy involved his ties to Ronald Lauder, who allegedly inspired Trump’s interest in Greenland during his first term. Lauder purchased business interests on the island.

Now Warsh may have to answer questions about his knowledge of Epstein and what he was doing in St. Barts during Christmas 2010. Questions will also be raised about whether Trump chose him because he, Epstein and Warsh know each other because they belong to the same circles.
